Calculate materials before you start
A plan or photo shows a possible finish, not the quantity to order. Always start with the actual measurements of your space.
- Measure the area with the geometry tool or reuse an area saved in your project.
- For a layer of material, multiply area by depth in metres to get volume.
- Allow for waste according to the product and site conditions. An example allowance is not a universal rule.
- Convert the result to bags, rolls, boards, tiles or a delivery. Check product yield, density and the manufacturer’s instructions.
